Movin’ On Up (or down, as the case may be)

Adam moved away to Texas today, and it made (makes) me sad to see him go. We had a going away party for him last night, and followed up with a moving sending service for him at church today, in which we sang his favorite songs and prayed for him as a church family. He is one of our very own, and we will miss him greatly (and much and a lot and with copious amounts of missing and forever).
10 things I will miss about AP:
- His undending kindness.
- His ridiculous smarts regarding all things technological (and all things PERIOD).
- 10:30pm movies at the last minute.
- Instant Messaging.
- His rapier wit.
- Looking out from the stage at church and seeing his dear (sweet) little face among the other church family members.
- Banter as only AP can bring.
- His music snobbery and share-ery.
- Being around that constant passion for the things he loves (especially Jesus). That is one passionate guy (especially about Jesus).
- His dear friendship.
Adam didn’t die, and it’s not like he’s never coming back. But he is a very good friend, and I will miss seeing him as much as I do. BUT. I am also extremely excited for him, as he is moving into the next phase of what God has for him. He will be attending Dallas Seminary, and will live in Dallas for the next few years, as he watches the Lord’s plan for his life unfold. AP has pursued the Lord, and asked Him for direction, and now it is exciting to watch the continued work of God in his life and choices and desires.
So, Adam, I (we) will miss you selfishly, because I (we) want you to be around all the time. But I (we) also send you off, with great blessing and hope for you, knowing that the kindness of the Lord continues to be poured out in your life, and this thing in Dallas is just one evidence of that. Godspeed, Adam. We love you to bits (kibbles ‘n)!
In closing, To quote Sam & Charlie:
Now who’s gonna send the evites?
Now who’s gonna solve all your computer problems (by coming to your house)?
Who’s gonna edit DVDs for the church service the next day?
Who’s gonna sell your stuff on Ebay for you?
Who’s gonna ask about your life and pray for you?
Who’s gonna go to any and every concert with you?
Who’s gonna be the mellow yet dependable work horse on your team?
Who’s gonna come back with a Texan accent?
Who’s gonna brew the afternoon pick-me-up?
Who’s gonna save my bacon when I have my engine out and can’t get it back in?
Who’s gonna keep me hip?
You tell us Adam. WHO?

What a great and true tribute post Holly, I couldn’t agree more. Man, I’m so bummed I missed that COC send-off service, but the Solomon’s are sick and so banned from church nurseries! Hopefully Adam got it on video and will edit it up for us in the next few days…
ya, i’m bummed too!
